Mainstreaming of biodiversity

Mainstreaming means integrating or including actions related to conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in strategies relating to sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, forestry, tourism and mining. Mainstreaming also refers to including biodiversity considerations in poverty reduction plans and national sustainable development plans.

The experiences of preparing, revising and implementing NBAP will be shared between the countries. Consultations will be organised with the relevant ministries and other stakeholders. Activities planned include assessment of the resource requirement for implementation of the action plans, developing methods for preparation of State Biodiversity Action Plans and developing a communication Strategy for NBAP.

Work Plan for 2015

Under this programme a road map for the implementation of NBAP by MoEFCC involving 23 Ministries/Departments will be prepared to facilitate the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBAP) and its national targets. The NBAPs are the principal instrument for implementing the Convention at the National level. The CEBPOL team will develop possible measures to mobilize financial resources for the effective implementation of the strategic plan.
