SEVENTIETH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Seventieth Indian Independence Day was celebrated in the National Biodiversity Authority in a befitting manner at its headquarters in Chennai on the 15th day of August, 2016. In the bright and sunny Monday morning, the majestic tri-color National Flag was unfurled by Dr.B.Meenakumari, the Chairperson, NBA in the lawns of the TICEL Biopark building, where the HQ of NBA is located. Keeping up the spirits of this important national day, the administrative staff of NBA took keen interest to arrive early in the morning to decorate the space around lawns with colorful tri-color ‘thoranams’ and rangolis. The flag-hoisting was followed by the play of heart-stirring National Anthem.

Sweets were distributed to all who were present in the occasion.

Later, the importance of this day was explained in a befitting manner by Shri Jayakantan, Executive through a song arduously compiled by himself in English.  He emphatically brought out the greatness of our country and the mandate of NBA elucidating the need of conservation of our country’s biodiversity.

The Chairperson, NBA while admiring the seventy years of the development of the country since Independence, remembered with reverence the struggle made by our leaders, freedom fighters and vir jawans.  In her brief and bright speech, she emphasized the need of understanding our capabilities to contribute more to the country, in spite of set-backs and slow progress.

The meeting ended with a feel of fulfilment, while the tri-color was fluttering majestically in the unusual flow of wind.
