

NBA plans to organize State Level Consultations on Biological Diversity Act (2002) and Rules (2004)

In order to effectively implement the Biological Diversity Act (2002) at State and local levels, the NBA is organizing a series of State level workshops and consultations between January and December 2013 to raise the awareness and build capacities of stakeholders. The consultations will focus on providing an orientation to all the State Boards, its members, state level experts and others on the provisions of the Act and Rules, issues of Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), economics and biodiversity, guidelines for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), review of state rules and such issues. The two day consultation will have one day dedicated for an interactive session, in local language, for the members of the BMCs. During January 2013, the consultations are being held in West Bengal (Kolkatta) between 8-9 January and in Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal) between 23-24 January. |
